Voices of Pride, The Gay Men’s Chorus of the Palm Beaches, will perform at the Arts Garage in Delray Beach on Friday, May 11 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Arts Garage is located at 180 NE First Street in the Pineapple District. Tickets are $15-25 in advance, $5 more at the door. Under the baton of artistic director Tom Pilecki, the chorus will perform a variety of music from ballads to torch from Garland to Gaga whose popular song, Born this Way, was gaily stretched to become the concert’s title, Born this WAAAAAAAY!

According to Pilecki the concert will feature a tribute to the LGBT armed forces, songs from the hit musical Jersey Boys and hits from the 60’s group The Four Seasons.

"Of course, no Voices of Pride show is complete without an appearance by the incredible Mandrews Sisters," said Pilecki. "This will be a laid back evening of fun and good music."

Twenty-two men will be on stage at the Arts Garage, which according to Matthew Farmer, programming and facility manager at the Arts Garage, is the largest ensemble to take the stage so far.

"It’s a wonderful space," Pilecki said. "The cabaret tables, the dance space, and the overall atmosphere are unique and wonderful. We love the energy they are creating in the space, and in the county. And we’re thrilled to be part of it.

"We’re really excited to have the Voices of Pride," Farmer said. "I’ve known Tom Pilecki and George Lydon and some of the other members for years. They asked if we’d be interested in having them perform and here we are. And yes, the audience may dance."

"This is their first performance," said Alyona Aleksandra Ushe, executive director. "We’re talking about making it a long-term relationship. They have a distinct style of programming. It’s the type of performance we enjoy having at our venue."

Although this is the chorus’ first concert at the Arts Garage, it is their last show of the season. During the summer they will perform at fundraisers and small private parties. They will announce their fall season at the end of the summer.
