Woman Killed Outside Club Motivations
A 27-year-old woman was reported dead in the aftermath of a melee that took place outside Club Motivation in North Philadelphia in the early morning hours of Sept. 4. A 21-year-old man was also injured, and taken to the hospital.
A Sept. 5 Philadelphia Inquirer story offered early details on the incident. One witness said that he saw a fight taking place between a woman who had apparently been ejected from the club at about 4 a.m. and a man who struck her windshield with a brick, shattering it. The woman then drove off, but circled around the block and sped toward the club; the witness said the driver seemed to be aiming for a group of people on the sidewalk. The car crashed into the side of the building, and a crowd of people then commenced to attack the vehicle, the witness said. The witness also said that he head gunshots.
But a story at local news channel CBS-3 said there was more to the story, citing one witness who described the car as being driven by two women, who took turns steering as the vehicle made several circuits around the block--striking people on the sidewalk with each pass. The woman had been turned away from the club because they had already been drinking, the article said, and upon being denied entrance they "went wild."
The article said that one woman left the scene in a cab and was arrested later. The other woman remained on the scene, where she was placed under arrest.
In a follow-up article, the Philadelphia Inquirerreported that the woman who was killed was 27-year-old Alisha Moore. The follow-up article again revised the details, saying that three women had been turned away from the club, at which they smashed car windows before point two of them got into their vehicle and plowed into a crowd of six people.
