Thanks to a profitable fundraising campaign and an ever-expanding clientele, the Phillip Rush Center is embarking on an expansion project to double the facility’s size and serve even more of Atlanta’s LGBT community.

The hot young crowd flocked to the Bowery Hotel on Feb. 2 for for the Young Leaders Council of the LGBT Community Center.

Supporters gathered in Tribeca for the 15th Annual Center Women’s Event, honoring reps from MAC Cosmetics, JPMorgan Chase and the New York Liberty, and raising critical funds for programs and services at the LGBT Center on West 13th Street.

Get ready to salivate. Here’s what was served at the Center’s 29th Annual Garden Party: crab cake sliders, coconut cupcakes, mini croque monsieur, champignon crostini, tuna tartare with avocado mousse, pecan butterscotch bars, butter crunch and marzipan.

Nate Berkus, Iman, and Lara Spencer, along with a bevy of interior design stars, will headline Housing Works seventh annual design benefit, Design On A Dime, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York on May 5, 2011.

Here’s what we ate (and drank) in the first hour: strawberry crème tart, fried zucchini flower moo chu with pickled summer flower in rice crepe, green chile mac-and-cheese with tortilla crumbs, caramel crème sandwich, baked brie pops with strawberry coulis, mini cannoli cupcakes, drip bar iced coffee, pecan butterscotch bar, mac-and-cheese squares, maple buttercream banana cupcake, buttermilk gazpacho, rice balls, caramel buttercream chocolate cupcake, truffled robiola pizza-and two cryogenically chilled greyhounds.

Social acceptance of gays and lesbians is coming along degree by degree in China, where a one-child law reinforces a cultural premium on sons who will continue the family lineage. A GLBT center in the nation’s capital city offers help and support to gays.
