Over 7,000 same-sex marriages licenses were issued in New York City in the year since the State Legislature legalized same-sex marriage. Brooklyn, "lesbian capital of the world," celebrates on Jan. 18 with a LGBTQ Wedding Expo.

The nascent Brooklyn Community Pride Center on Wednesday announced that it has named community organizer Erin Drinkwater as its new executive director.

The Brooklyn Community Pride Center, which currently operates out of Borough Hall, continues the process of securing its own facility in order to better serve the roughly 250,000 LGBT people who live in Kings County.
