Revolver Reopens Revolving Door in West Hollywood
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA - Video may have killed the radio star but this October, video makes the neighborhood bar with the return of Revolver. A West Hollywood institution for gays in the 80’s and 90’s, Revolver was a favorite destination where friends could catch up over cocktails while watching one-of-a-kind music videos. Named for its revolving front door where guests would funnel in and out of the popular spot, Revolver will soon once again put a new spin on West Hollywood nightlife.
Sticking to its roots of the best music video and iconic movie mash ups, inexpensive drinks, signature nights and even the landmark revolving door, the reincarnated Revolver pays homage to its previous self but with an entirely new look.
As part of the new look of Revolver the modern yet casual interior is playfully inviting and seductive with blacks, grays and splashes of red. The 20’ tall bottle display in the center of the bar certainly grabs patrons’ attention once they enter and features hundreds of full liquor bottles creating a soft glow throughout the bar.
The bar also features some tailored finishes like the one-of-a-kind speakers which are housed in a sleek modern white casing with a branded ’R’ that glows red at its base. As is true with many components at Revolver the speakers serve a dual purpose, part sound system and part décor. Revolver also features a back billiard and dart room and features 4 flat screen TVs. The billiard room will convert from game room to bar space during peak hours.
While the alluring design certainly grabs patron’s attention, decor takes a backseat to the 20 state-of-the-art flat screen televisions located throughout the bar. Synced and playing a blend of era specific music videos, original video content creations and one-of-a-kind iconic videos all of which are the work of Revolver’s in house VJ.
The original video creations are the perfect amount of camp and pop, one part AbFab, one part Madonna, a sidecar of Dynasty and garnished with a touch of Gaga. The videos will certainly keep patrons laughing one minute and wanting to dance the next.
The new Revolver is the vision of LA Restaurateur, Alfredo Diaz and Chris Miller, Co-President of Flower Films. Friends for over 10 years, the two have made names for themselves in their prospective industries. While Diaz is known among the epicurean circles for casual breakfast and lunch spots Kokomo and K2, Miller brings an entertainment element to the partnership with his experience producing projects like Whip It, VH1’s Tough Love and most recently ABC’s new Charlie’s Angels remake.
"Chris and I had talked for years about our shared fondness of Revolver and wanting to bring back our version of the popular bar someday. When we found out that the lease on the space was available, we jumped at the chance to take it over" says Diaz. "Revolver was such an iconic bar and we’re excited to bring an updated version back. We aren’t exactly reinventing the video bar concept but Revolver does stand apart from other video bars with its original video mash up content created by VJ’s we’ve discovered from around the world and found nowhere else." adds Miller.
Revolver is located at: 8851 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood CA 90069 P) 310.694.0430
